October Newsletter

Autumn in San Francisco is alive, and we are ready to cozy up for the fun and fancy of the -ber months. It won’t be an Orange October this year, but it’s time to wake up Thrive City as the Giants pass the baton to the Warriors who open their season against the Clippers. But first, head to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Fleet Week, and other festivals celebrating the diverse cultures of San Francisco.

Meet us on October 23 as we support a cause dear to our hearts: our team is joining the Breakthrough T1D Walk in Mission Bay to raise money for Breakthrough T1D, the leading global type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and advocacy organization. Scroll down to learn more about how you can join the walk and support the cause.

Summer came, saw, and conquered, in the sweetest way possible. Check out our Postcards section at the end to see where our team traveled. Where did the warmer months bring you?

Don’t Miss the Warriors Home Opener!

The Chase Center comes alive on October 27, as the Golden State Warriors face off against the L.A. Clippers in their first home clash of the season. This isn’t just an early-season matchup; it’s a critical battle between Western Conference rivals. With Kawhi Leonard's status uncertain due to a knee injury, the spotlight will shine brightly on Steph Curry and the Warriors as they aim to assert their dominance. With Draymond Green’s relentless defense and the Clippers’ depth ready to step up, expect an unforgettable night where every play matters.

Local Festivals for All

Filipino Comedy Festival

The 2nd Annual Filipino Comedy Festival takes place on October 4–5 in San Francisco, featuring a lineup of talented Filipino comedians from Netflix, Comedy Central, and more. Experience four shows filled with laughter, games, and exciting prizes at Bindlestiff Studio, showcasing acts like Granny Cart Gangstas, Herb Digs, and A. Samson Manalo. With performances at 7 PM and 9 PM each night, this festival promises belly-aching fun and an opportunity to meet the next generation of comedic stars. Don’t miss this first-of-its-kind celebration of Filipino humor!

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass takes over Golden Gate Park from October 4th to 6th. Enjoy over 80 artists performing country, folk, blues, and everything in between. It’s free, it’s outdoors, and it’s as San Francisco as it gets. Bring a blanket, explore the food vendors like empanadas from El Porteño, fried noodles from Sataysfied, and root beer floats from Humphrey Slocombe. Soak up that last laid-back festival vibe before we hibernate for winter. Forget about parking and hop on public transit instead. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

Waterfront Viewing for Fleet Week

On Saturday, October 12 the excitement of an incredible airshow awaits at the USS Pampanito and Historic Pier 45. From 11 AM to 4 PM, enjoy stunning views of the Blue Angels as they soar above the Bay. Attendees will have access to indoor and outdoor observation areas, along with a delicious lunch buffet. Families can also explore the nearby USS Pampanito WWII submarine museum, included in ticket prices. With views of Alcatraz, Coit Tower, and Fisherman's Wharf as you take in the show, make Fleet Week 2024 a historically San Francisco one.

Italian Heritage Festival & Parade

Celebrate Italian culture at San Francisco Italian Heritage Festival & Parade on Sunday, October 13. Kicking off at Jefferson and Powell Street, the parade showcases lively music, captivating performances, and stunning floats. Enjoy a prime viewing experience while dining at famous favorites like Original Joe’s and Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, offering seating along the parade route. Don’t miss the Bank of America Concorso Italiano Auto Show, free along with this historic parade. This year marks over 150 years of tradition since Nicola Larco’s first Columbus Day celebration in 1869.
